BLOOD DRIVE – Series premieres Wednesday, June 14 at 10/9c
Get uncomfortable…! In the tradition of classic grindhouse movies, Blood Drive is a new series soaked in high-octane chaos and just barely approved for television. After Los Angeles’ last good cop (Alan Ritchson) is forced to join a twisted cross-country death race, his only hope of survival is a dangerous femme fatale who has the need for speed (Christina Ochoa). Oh, and forget gasoline… these cars run on human blood! The series is from Universal Cable Productions and executive producers John Hlavin (“Underworld Awakening”), David Straiton (“Bates Motel”) and Frederik Malmberg (“Let Me In”), along with producer Mark Wheeler (“Becoming”). James Roland (“Weeds”) created the project and is a co-executive producer on the series.

"RONNIE JAMES DIO Hologram Will Tour The World, Says Creator" - Blabbermouth

"RONNIE JAMES DIO Hologram Will Tour The World, Says Creator" - Blabbermouth

"A hologram of the late Ronnie James Dio made its U.S. debut last month at the 28th annual Pollstar Awards at the The Novo (formerly Club Nokia) in Los Angeles, California. Created by Eyellusion, the appearance of the heavy metal icon took place during a performance by DIO DISCIPLES, which pays tribute to Ronnie and is fully supported by his widow/manager, Wendy.

DIO DISCIPLES features former DIO members Simon Wright (drums), Craig Goldy (guitar) and Scott Warren (keyboards) alongside vocalist Tim "Ripper" Owens (JUDAS PRIEST, ICED EARTH, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN) and bassist Bjorn Englen (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN). They are joined by singers Oni Logan (LYNCH MOB) and Joe Retta (SWEET, HEAVEN & EARTH).

The Dio hologram was first introduced at last year's Wacken Open Air festival in Germany.

Jeff Pezzuti, CEO of Eyellusion, recently spoke to AXS.com about plans for a tour featuring the hologram, which will showcase various eras of the legendary metal singer's career.

"The tour is currently being routed and we are hoping to make an announcement for an end of year kickoff in the coming months," he said."

"More details are emerging about a planned 2017 tour featuring the Ronnie James Dio hologram.

Jeff Pezzuti, CEO of the company that created the hologram for the Dio Disciples’ performance this summer at Wacken, said the concerts will showcase various eras of the legendary metal singer’s career.

“For the tour, he’s going to have different looks,” EyeIllusion’s Pezzuti tells Talking Metal. At Wacken, the hologram was built around Dio’s image from “somewhere around ’88, the Dream Evil era. For this next tour, we’re going to be somewhere later than that for certain songs and maybe earlier than that for other songs.”

No dates have yet been confirmed, though Pezzuti is already promising “an over-the-top, mind-blowing experience. We are going to have both live singers with Ripper Owens and Oni Logan as part of the show, as well as Ronnie appearing throughout the show at different parts, some duets. It’s going to be mind blowing from the fans’ perspective. We are going to bring album covers to life. We are going to bring things that are known to Ronnie to life onstage.”

"Ronnie James Dio Hologram to Tour with Ripper Owens and Oni Logan This Year" - Guitar World

"The hologram of the late Ronnie James Dio will tour this year with singers with Ripper Owens and Oni Logan.

The hologram debuted on August 6, 2016 with a surprise appearance before 75,000-plus fans at the Wacken Open Air music festival in Germany. Dio, who died in 2010 at age 67, was shown belting out “We Rock,” the late singer’s go-to encore song, with Dio Disciples, a band made up of several of his former bandmates.

Created by Eyellusion, the Dio hologram is the world’s first rock hologram performance and its Wacker Open Air performance marked the first time a hologram had been accompanied by a live band onstage. "

"Rock star Ronnie James Dio set for world tour – despite having died in 2010" - The Guardian

"Rock star Ronnie James Dio set for world tour – despite having died in 2010" - The Guardian

In what appears to be a first for rock’n’roll, a dead artist is set to embark on a headlining world tour. Ronnie James Dio, the former Rainbow, Black Sabbath and Dio singer who died in 2010, is to embark on a worldwide trek in holographic form, fronting the Dio Disciples.

Dio Disciples features former members of Dio, alongside three additional singers, but for part of the show Dio will front the band himself. The Dio hologram first performed at last year’s Wacken Open Air festival in Germany and made its US debut at the Pollstar Live! awards in Los Angeles.

The hologram was created by the company Eyellusion, with the backing of Dio’s widow and manager, Wendy Dio.

Eyellusion’s Jeff Pezzuti told axs.com that a new Dio hologram would be created for the tour. “The tour is currently being routed and we are hoping to make an announcement for an end-of-year kickoff in the coming months,” he said. “This is not just about the US. It is truly a world tour. Ronnie’s fans are spread around the world and we intend to bring this exciting show to as many as we can. The show will not only feature Ronnie and his band but also live singers like Tim ‘Ripper’ Owens [formerly of Judas Priest] and others to complete the overall show vision.”

"Ronnie James Dio Hologram Makes U.S. Debut" - LoudWire

"Prepare to get a little misty-eyed, metalheads. The loss of powerhouse singer and metal icon Ronnie James Dio left a void that can never be filled, bringing fans around the globe to an emotional breaking point upon the news of his death in 2010. The beloved frontman made an unprecedented return to the stage at Wacken last summer in the form of a hologram and the spectacle has now made its U.S. debut.

The 28th Annual Pollstar Awards were held at The Novo in Los Angeles last night (Feb. 2) and featured a special Dio Disciples performance of “We Rock,” featuring the Eyellusion-created Dio hologram. With the drum kit placed on stage left, this setup made room for the hologram to be projected on the center of the stage where Ronnie moved about on a raised platform.

This video is sure to invoke mixed feelings as fans are overcome with joy at the opportunity to relive the magic of Dio onstage, battling raw emotions still coping with the fact that the frontman is no longer with us. The most reassuring aspect of this is that the effort is backed by Wendy Dio, the singer’s widow and long time manager.

Fans can look forward to a more extensive version of the hologram on tour later this year. In our exclusive interview with Wendy Dio, she told us, “We’re developing a new [hologram] right now with six songs. So if we do an hour show, Ronnie will probably come out four times. If we do a 90-minute show, he’d come out six times. We’re developing that — should be ready by September.”

"Ronnie James Dio Hologram Debuts at German Metal Festival" - Rolling Stone

"Ronnie James Dio Hologram Debuts at German Metal Festival" - Rolling Stone

"The fervent Ronnie James Dio fans who gathered to watch a group of the late singer's former bandmates close out Germany's mega-sized heavy-metal festival Wacken Open Air Saturday night got a big surprise: a theatrical performance by Dio in hologram form. It bellowed "We Rock," the singer's gritty 1984 anthem and go-to encore song, and raised its hands in the singer's trademark devil horns. But the company that created it hopes it will be the first of many shows.

The Dio hologram has been over a year in the making; it involved a team of people from across the music and tech industries working together to create a digital version of the frontman that could tour with Dio Disciples, a band that formed to keep the singer's music alive after his death of stomach cancer in 2010. When they tell Rolling Stone about what it took to get it to Wacken, from conception to the musicians' choreography, they each marvel individually at what they created.

"I cried the first time I saw it," says the singer's widow, Wendy Dio, who oversees his legacy. "It was quite, quite scary. Our crew, when they first saw it at rehearsal, they were in tears. It's absolutely amazing."

"Ronnie James Dio hologram makes US debut at Pollstar Awards "

"A hologram of Ronnie James Dio debuted last summer at Germany’s Wacken Open Air Music Festival. On Thursday evening, the digitally recreated metal icon made his/its first appearance in the US during the Pollstar Awards at The Novo in Los Angeles.

As you can see in the video above, the digital Dio performed “We Rock” with the Dio Disciples, a sort of tribute supergroup featuring Dio members Simon Wright on drums, guitarist Craig Goldy, and keyboardist Scott Warren along with singer Tim “Ripper” Owens (Judas Priest), Yngwie Malmsteen bassist Bjorn Englen, Onig Logan of Lynch Mob, and Joe Retta of Sweet. At one point during the show, the hologram even held up a banner celebrating the Pollstar Awards."
